Liverpool Biennial is one of the most prestigious and acclaimed contemporary art events in the world. Since its launch in 1999, the Biennial has grown into the largest international contemporary art event in the United Kingdom, providing an integrated programme of exhibitions and events for artists and visitors from around the world.
In 2012, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) was joining hands with the Hong Kong Museum of Art to highlight Hong Kong’s exceptional creativity at the "City States" exhibition of the Liverpool Biennial. Responding to the theme of "Hospitality", the exhibition has included the works of three local artists that enable visitors to "re-imagine" the relationship of the city with its people in the areas of urban transformation, city branding and sustainable development.
We were asked to create the visual identity and a series of marketing collaterals for the collective title of All Are Guests, Hong Kong at the Liverpool Biennial 2012. By examining the dynamics between people and the city, we have collected some images of people and the city, then used the positive & negative spaces to represent the intricate relationship of the hosts and guests.
