Description
My thesis project was to design a corporate identity for a contemporary art museum in Italy called MAGA, Museo Arte Gallarate. Recently the museum had a new logo designed so the logo was not to be touched. The concept for the corporate identity is a pattern made from the negative space surrounding the symbol of the logo. The pattern was then applied on editorial applications, merchandises, web applications, staff uniforms and used as a guideline for the sign system inside the museum. The only exception is the stationary design which is designed in two colors without the pattern in order to keep it professional and sophisticated. The web application is HTML based webpage with an animated banner on the top. The pattern slowly appears from the corner to the top of the page. On each page the pattern changes colors and the animation continues. In the center of the homepage is a flash animation where current exhibitions are displayed. • My thesis project was to design a corporate identity for a contemporary art museum in Italy called MAGA, Museo Arte Gallarate. Recently the museum had a new logo designed so the logo was not to be touched. The concept for the corporate identity is a pattern made from the negative space surrounding the symbol of the logo. The negative space forms triangles which point towards the logo.
  • The single triangle is then put together as a puzzle creating a technical pattern. In order to create a feeling of movement, pieces of triangles are removed which forms gaps. The pattern is then rotated 10° and used as a background for titles of advertisement exhibitions and events of the museum.

The pattern was then applied on editorial applications, merchandises, web applications, staff uniforms and used as a guideline for the sign system inside the museum. The only exception is the stationary design which is designed in two colors without the pattern in order to keep it professional and sophisticated.
